Tea Party!

Ava had her friend Scarlett come over for a during-the-holidays playdate.  We were excited to have just her here as usually I have my daycare kids and that can prohibit what I can do with the girls and allow them to do.
We made some adorable (and easy) gingerbread cookies from a box.  The kids just want to decorate them so I let them and then I think I let them have one, they forgot about them, and I threw the rest out.  It was a blast while it lasted!
The girls then had a tea party with my old tea set given to me by my great-grandmother (Oma Tic Toc, we called her)
How adorable is this set?  I wish all my dishes looked like this!

Have fun with your kids and don't put off until tomorrow what you can do with them today.  It's a truly hard rule to follow but certainly a good lesson to work on.

Things I love, Things I'm doing...

Here is a mish mash of some things that have been going on around here the part few weeks.  And, as always, the things that make me smile.
Trolling fashion websites, drinking coffee out of my favorite mug, and eating the FOOD OF THE GODS (cinnamon toast: margarine, brown sugar, cinnamon. throw in microwave, spread on toast. enjoy!)  Could a morning get any better?
Beautiful hand-made wooden brushes from Greenbarn Gallery.  (Hair not included)
My adorable Zara clutch.  I cannot get enough of this thing!  Even men notice and love it!
Our Thanksgiving Crafts.  We made them into headpieces.  Turkey Lurkeys!
I know it's pure poison, but I love Crystal Light's Raspberry Ice.  I will drink this whole jug in a day.
A beautiful wooden cutting board made for us by my Opa.  And some delish pizza for little mouths.
My vices.  Since I have been running, I have been starving.  Here is me (again trolling fashion sites) and ingesting pure garbage (Crystal Light and Cheezies).  That should fuel me for the day, right?
Our Halloween shelf.  Pretty awesome, right?
I made this wreath.  How cute?
My new makeup table! Last weekend my mom-in-law found this amazing deal on desks from an antique store.  I got this one for $60! (White mirrors from Dollarama)
Some storage space underneath for extra makeup and jewelry I am not immediately wearing.  (Boxes on left from Dollarama, middle wood box made by my Opa, big wood box from Green Barn Gallery).
The details.  All my necessities right at hand.
A close-up of my jewelry.  I switch the earrings out for different ones (from aforementioned jewelry boxes) on the regular to "keep it fresh."  Giraffe bought in Murano by my Oma when we went there in my last year of highschool.
Everything kept tidy in milk glass and vases from Value Village.
The Eiffel Tower keeps my bracelets organized.
My inspiration board and also a place from which to hang my necklaces (metallic board from Ikea, round magnets from Staples).
My new framed photo of the Eiffel Tower taken by a friend of a friend who had this as their actual view.  Amazing.  It's like I'm waking up in Paris every morning.

Enjoy ma petites!

Eat, drink, and don't die.

This is me feeling sick and pale after the drs appointment. Why, after you know you are actually ill, do you feel a million times worse?
Well, I seem to be the palest person in the world. Ok, well, no. I am not exactly the palest. And I am not exactly pale. I am more green-tinged. Some people look great pale: Winona Ryder, Dita Von Teese...and then there's me. Blonde hair, blued eyed, sickly looking and bags under the eyes. Does it get any cuter? I went to the doctor about 2 months ago, complaining of fatigue. And as I am a young, relative active ann fit, I thought it a bit weird that I couldn't even keep up on my thrice weekly Curves excercises with my 50-year-old co-worker. But I couldn't. I honestly thought I would die when three o'clock rolled around, talk about a brick wall! It made me long for my school-girl days when we were encouraged to put our heads on our desks in the afternoons so Mrs. Mulholland could have a Diet Coke in peace. But, alas, I am not 8 and I should have more energy. So, long story short, I had low iron. Whoopie...pretty lame, right? SO, I started taking Iron pills and eating better (more broccoli, less donuts) but I started to get dizzy and disgusting feeling all the time. You know those "stars" you sometimes see when you get up too fast, well I was getting them when I turned around to look at people in the backseat of my car. Not good. Again with the long story being shortened-I have low blood pressure. I haven't got the results back but we (dr. and I) are pretty much dead set on it being caused by dehydration. That being hte most common reason for blood pressure for someone at my...ahem...young age. I've turned into one of those people who drink three cups of coffee, have lunch, have a cup of tea and then come home and drink wine until I pass out at 8:30. It's a miracle I'm alive, basically. So the day we figured this out, I drank a 1.5 litre water from about 12:30 on....I didn't go to the washroom until bedtime! Scary! May this be a lesson to us all: don't be stupid with your health!
