The Amazing Katy Perry

I listen to a lot of KP. A LOT. I have a 3.5 year old and that is all she let's me listen to. I'm just happy to finally be able to move beyond the third track (California Gurls).
Katy's style is super fun. It's definitly a diva style and not necessarily to be tried at home but I do love the vintagey feel and think I have touches of that in my own style.
Rock on Katy!

Interior Design

I recently took out the book Downtown Chic from the local library. The writers/designers behind the book are Robert and Cortney Novogratz, a designer couple with a big brood of children and fabulous taste. I am very much inspired by their style and the way they incorporate pop culture, texture and kids taste/furniture into their own personal esthetic. Something I myself stive to do. Check out the comic book wall. My Dallas would LOVE that! (Hey, as long as I get that black and white wall of family pics).
Hope you enjoy too,

I can haz Tabouleh?

Yes, it's another food blog! Can't get enough of the stuff I tell ya!
Last night I had the girls over for (way too much) wine, bad TV and dinner. As I opted to clean the house and spend time in the sunshine instead of worrying over dinner we had Shake n' Bake chicken strips and my world famous tabouleh. It may not look like much but it's a delicious world of flavour for your tongue. It's also a crowd pleaser at pot lucks, etc.
Tabouleh Recipe
2 Cups Bulgar Wheat (or Couscous if you prefer)
2 cups boiling water
2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil (may need more-depending on how dry/moist you like it...that's what she said...)
1 lemon
2-3 chopped cloves of garlic
2 tbsp course mustard
1 red pepper
3/4 cup crumbled feta (or more if you like)
1/2 red pepper
1 1/2 cup of chopped brocolli florets
some cut up fresh mint (I like a lot but you determine what's best for you and your guests)
(can also add chopped green or yellow pepper, green onion instead of red, chopped cucumber, whatever the heck else ya think would be good)
1) Pour 2 cups of boiling water over bulgar wheat in medium size bowl. Let sit for 20 minutes (until water absorbed)
2) Stir around bulgar wheat. Add oil and mustard and the juice from lemon (watch out for seeds!). Stir some more.
3) Add garlic and red pepper and feta and brocolli and mint last (as it wilts when stirred too much).
4) Allow to cool in fridge for 20-30 minutes.
5) Serve.

Macarons

I've kind of become obsessed with the prettiness of these pretty little bites. Not to be confused with those toasted coconut concoctions available at any little corner backshop worth it's salt (pun intended). These delicious little treats are like a crackly merangue with a soft centre. And because they are available in many different flavours and colours, and are often packaged like an expensive pair of glasses, they are the ultimate food accessory.
Ever since Herme showed them in a fashion-show like atmosphere in 2001, these gems have been all the rage in sweet treats.
So I say kick up your heels and devour these beautiful images while you indulge in your favorite snack. And do it like the French do: guilt free.
Bon Appetit!

Shoesy Shoes Shoes!

Here are some of my favorite spring/summer shoes. It was 19 degrees here on the Island today and I was definitly feeling the heat--in a good way.
I'm a "navy and neutrals" loving virgo so I play it safe with my shoes--always going for neutral colours and natural looking fabrics. I also don't have a lot of moola to throw around so my shoes have to go with everything from jeans to skirts. There is some military inspiration coming through in the sandal with a bit of canvas and "leather" as well as a choice of the very-popular-this-season espadrille. Hope you enjoy!
The first 4 shoes are from Forever 21 Online Canada http://www.canada.forever21.com/
The next pair can be found at Shoe Warehouse. I tried it on today and it looks white in the picture but (sadly?) it matched my skin tone kinda well and was a soft grey. It was nice and elongated the leg. I didn't buy them today as I was in between sizes and they didn't have mine in stock. Boooo!
The last 5 are from Charlotte Russe online http://www.charlotterusse.com/
Happy Stepping,
Roxanne
