Rub a Dub Dub

I have been obsessing about the bath lately.  Like, seriously, I have to cut myself down to one a day as I love them so much!  So relaxing and girlie, it's just the perfect pastime.
Here are some of the fun products I bring in with me to make sure I'm being a little productive in my "off-time."
Above: Neutrogena Anti-Residue shampoo.  I mix it into my regular shampoo every week or so to clean out all the styling gunk and whatever else is in there.  Soap & Glory Scrub Your Nose In It pore scrub.  You can rub this clay-like scrub all over your t-zone to get out the junk or wear it as a pore-refining mask for a couple minutes.  Perfect for the bath.  Joe Fresh Pomegranate Body Polish.  Hey, you need to exfoliate.  I always make sure to do it before I shave or put on self-tanner, at the very least.  Balea shave gel.  It's Shopper's Drug Mart generic brand and it's a good price and a good product.  Best things is that a little goes a long way.  Olay Age Defying body wash.  Very moisturizing for my dry skin and it smells great too!  Avene Cleansing Milk, trial size.  Delicately removes makeup.  Haven't had it long enough to make a judgement but I have customers with awesome skin who swear by it.  Rubber Ducky you're the one.  You make bath time so much fun...

Below: (Things I use after the bath) Avene Eau Thermale night cream.  So dense and nourishing.  Am loving it. Neutrogena Oil-Free Eye Make-up Remover.  Just in case I missed anything and it's running all over my face.  Mascara, I'm looking at you!  Palmer's Cocoa Butter lotion decanted into smaller pump.  This stuff smells great, is lightweight, and really does the job.  Clinique All About Eyes eye cream.  I'm beginning to really need it.  Boooo!
And here are some shots of celebs in the bath, just cuz.

Holding Things

My tribute to the awesome-sauce Canadian blog called Holding Things: Nails Objectified where blogger MUQU does fun and interesting things with her nail polish and then takes pictures of it.  So fun!
A picture from Holding Things of MUQU, well, holding something.
Me holding a mug I nicked from Crabby Joe's last weekend.  I think it sums me up perfectly.  (wearing Essie's Cute as a Button and Joe Fresh's Cement)
Ava wearing OPI's Pompeii Purple and holding an iCarly toy dog.

Love cool blogs, don't you?

Summer Wardrobe Spruce-Up (Forever 21)

So I went online and ordered some new summer shirts as this year I am definitely down a size from last year (bye bye baby weight...slowly but surely) and I just needed a fashion pick-me-up.  So where did I (with NO budget) turn to...Forever 21 Canada Online of course!  I never but an bottoms from there (skirts too short and who the hell needs pants they haven't tried on?) but I always get shirts and accessories with no problem.
Here's some of the stuff I got for a steal!
Lemon-yellow gauzy sleeveless shirt. Perfect with a pair of walking shorts or tucked into a high-waisted skirt.
This tank is cotton-y on the front and then longer and see-thru rayon-y and longer on the back...cool.  But it's the colour that I just had to have.
And this super-bright blue rayon-y tank just is going to look so chic with my black shorts and gold jewellery...
check out the split-seam back: sexy, non?
SO bringing this cheapy little neon geometric bag to the beach tomorrow!  Already packed with suits and 'screen!
And cute stationary?  You know I love it!
Sending this one to my friend Kate who's b-day is June 7th.
Got two of these bad-boys.  Cutest things my groceries will ever see!

So that's it.  Told you it was small.  Got two new sets of earrings from work (Shopper's Drug Mart).  I can't stop wearing them!  I'll keep you posted on that.

Glamping

It's Glam-Camping and it's what I want to do.  I'll take pretty much any kind of camping as the weather is great and I am in Ontario (where I always camped as child), and I haven't been in years (I blame the babies!), and I just really want to go (whaaa!)!
The sound of zippers zipping, the smell of campire, the aerosol sound of bug spray being sprayed, the feel of sand in...everything.  I want it all.
But if Dallas and I were to do it now we would have to do it in a little bit of style (no more driving though the night and finding some flat spot in the middle of nowhere and pitching a tent) as we are old now and have kids...and are pretty much huge princesses.
Here's some beautiful camping related images that make the idea of heading out into the wilderness a little more plausible for us and hopefully they inspire you as well.
You are going to need a pullover so why not make it a cute one?  This one's from Topshop but now everyone is jumping on the chic sportswear trend so you could probably find something similar most anywhere.
The women and events that pretty much invented the word Glamping: Rosie Huntington-Whitley, Gwenyth Paltrow & Alexa Chung do their best to make the outdoor music festival scene look less like it really is (dirty, dishevelled and half-drunk).
This tent in this spot with that sleeping bag and that little table.  So amazing!  The Tee-pee type tent is making a big comeback (since pre-colonial times?) and comes in a ton of cute patterns.
OMG who cares if all you remembered to pack was this basket and tablecloth?  I could live on love alone.
Amazing Nike hikers...who says you have to be all in brown and beige when outdoors?
Don't you just want to climb in this tent right now and never leave?  Make sure to shake the sand off your feet before you do!
Another adorable tent in a great little spot.
This has always been a dream of mine: to have a beautiful backyard with an area big enough for an al fresco dinner party strong with lights.  I just had to include this.  Not sure how is fits into the whole camping thing but...

Ummm...these sleeping bags?  I almost wouldn't mind waking up to a damp tent if I had these to snuggle into.
Perfect no-muss camping hair.  Just braid it back and be done.
I love the style and simplicity of this camping chair and as it is low to the ground, I wouldn't experience that topsy-turvy feeling that you get when sitting on uneven ground in a cheap metal-frame collapsible.
Gourmet s'mores?  Now we're clamping!
Phillip Lim 2.1's Spring/Summer 2012 show seems tailor-made for the camping-life. Well, if you really showed up in this you'd look a little over-the-top but...it's nice to dream.
Happy Camping!

I Love Liv!

So much so that I could have named my first born Olivia just to have the excuse to shorten it to Liv.  But the name Olivia was already on hold from another family member...and then they didn't end up using it, after all!  Oh well, my daughter Ava is such an Ava and Liv will forever be in my heart as the name of one of the most beautiful actresses in Hollywood.
Here are some pictures I compiled of chameleon-like Liv Tyler:

If you ever get a chance to see one of her earlier movies, "Stealing Beauty" you definitely should.  Besides Liv being naturally breathtaking in it, the images and ideas from the movie will stay with you for years to come.  An earmark of a great film, I should think!
Hope you enjoyed!

Cravings

Now that I work in the cosmetics department, I am pretty much set in the makeup...department.  But because I only wear black on black to work, I am definitely obsessing about style and fashion a lot more in my personal life.
Here are some of my favourite things:
ASOS Los Angeles Point Ballet Flats With Chain Detail in Cream.  So totally chic.  www.asos.com
ASOS Whistles Hollie Dress.  Ok, so this is black too but so totally sexy that I just think it's the perfect little black dress.  www.asos.com
I love the minty colour of this Mod Cloth Beachfront View dress.  It's totally perfect for the beach or for dressing up with some gold jewelry for something fancier.  And the big bow?? Adorbs!  www.modcloth.com
The coral colour of this Forever 21 marled sweater is just so cute and it's a great summer weight to wear with chinos (shown) on a cool summer night or wear with shorts on a breezy summer day.  www.forever21.com
How cute is this Nasty Gal Total Stud blouse.  It's peekaboo shoulders and studded colour would immediately update my wardrobe and it could be worn relaxed as shown or with a skirt for a date-night look.  www.nastygal.com
I have been dying for the Sheba necklace and Ombre bracelet (both shown by designer Alex on top) from HRH Collection.  They are versatile, good for layering, and just totally substantial and expensive looking.  Score.  www.hrhcollection.com
And this MCM Sophia bag is just so ladylike and the colour makes me smile from ear to ear.  I could fit everything I want in it and still look so put together.  And like to rest of my desires, dress it up or dress it down and it still looks great.

Enjoy!

Roxy Rave: Benefit's "Hervana" Blush

I picked this up with a gift card I got for my birthday and because I work at Shoppers Drug Mart and get 30% off, otherwise the $36 price tag would make this little gem a bit out of my league.
But, I am so glad that the stars aligned and I got this.  I head from lots of YouTube beauty gurus that is was great, and most of them had a similar complexion to my own (re: fair) so I bought it.
And I love it.

It makes my cheeks flush with this amazing cool but warm glow.  It is very ethereal and does not try to compete with a heavy eye or dark mouth (as pictured on me, above).  I think this blush would look amazing on more than just the pale as the cool berry tones and warm tans would bring out the best in most complexions.
If you are ever near a Shoppers or Sephora or another Benefit counter that you know of, give it a try.  You won't be disappointed!
xoxo
