Outfit Inspo from Lookbook

On  Lookbook.nu there is lots of amazing outfits to see.  Some beautiful, some daring, some colourful, some dark, some 90s inspired, some Victorian.  All pretty amazing.
Here are some of my favorites from today's feed:
Love the black pants and ridiculous sweater with a plain button-up underneath.  Cute and totally doable.  (Plus: statement necklace? Sold?)
As I am loving my new loafers I am looking for any way to wear them.  I like these cropped and cuffed jeans and a beautiful black chunky knit.
I'm not sure if I could pull off pants like these but I love the idea of them.  And the colour of this sweater and earrings with her skin tone is making me cry.  In a good way.
Totally easy look with chic, easy pieces.  Denim button up, black tank, black pants, hat, statement necklace.  I'd probably make my hat a toque of some sort and of course I any excuse to wear turquoise...
I just love cropped denim with pointy little heels.  I have a pair of black patent ones that would look great with a look like this.  And the little jacket with the big scarf in those gorgeous fall colours is just to die.
What are your favorites from Lookbook.nu (and don't forget to take a look at everyone's Halloween Costumes that they are posting.  Who knew costumes could be so chic?

Out With the Guys: Sofi Fahrman

I think anyone who knows me or who religiously follows my blog (re: no one, lol!) would know that I love Sofi Fahrman and I check out Sofis Snapshots everyday for photos of her awesome life and clothing.
When thinking about what to wear out with the guys (Dallas and his buddies) on Saturday, I wanted to be casual and comfy but still look, you know, hot (duh!) so I immediatedly looked to Sofi for fashion inspiration.

So I wore my new Roxy slipper shoes, my Guess waxed skinny jeans, a cute white t-shirt with a little detail at the back, my ring necklace, Danier brown leather coat and grey TNA infinity scarf.
If I hadn't been dancing like a fool and drinking out of other people's drinks, I would have been killing it in the chic department.
Oops,

Mom's Matter

I found this awesome article about a mom deciding to be in pictures with her children, even if she didn't always feel perfect (sometimes, dare-I-say "fat" and "rumpled"...know the feeling too well!).  She realized that is was important for her children to see their mother present in this pictures so that they can see what she looked like and see her with them.  I totally agree!
At the end of this Huffington Post article the author, Allison Tate, has asked other moms to most pictures of themselves and their children.  Of course, I uploaded one of my son and I that I took recently, and though it may not be very flattering, I know we were having fun and being real.
While looking through the pictures: moms with the daughters completing "fun runs," moms goofing off with their kids and making faces, moms breastfeeding newborns right on the delivery bed, I saw a mother whom I can only guess is going through cancer treatment as she has no hair and has "that look" about her and I am floored as I think of all the photo ops I bowed out of because I didn't want to show my fat arms, bad hair and no-makeup face.  And this woman has the courage to go though what I can only imagine as fresh hell and pose smiling happily with her children because she is their mother and she should be in the picture (goddamit!) and then to share that picture with us.  Courageous and supremely inspirational.
Read the awesome article, browse through the adorable pictures and if it doesn't stir something in you, you might be a robot.
"When I look at pictures of my own mother, I don't look at cellulite or hair debacles. I just see her -- her kind eyes, her open-mouthed, joyful smile, her familiar clothes. That's the mother I remember. My mother's body is the vessel that carries all the memories of my childhood. I always loved that her stomach was soft, her skin freckled, her fingers long. I didn't care that she didn't look like a model. She was my mama." -Allison Tate

Olivia Palermo

I know she was a huge bitch on The Hills or The City or whatever, but she is always just total perfection-nailing it every time-that you just can't fault her.
I mean, this is one of those iconic pictures that people reference for decades to come and it was taken of Miss Palermo last week.  How does she do it?

Things I love, Things I'm doing...

Here is a mish mash of some things that have been going on around here the part few weeks.  And, as always, the things that make me smile.
Trolling fashion websites, drinking coffee out of my favorite mug, and eating the FOOD OF THE GODS (cinnamon toast: margarine, brown sugar, cinnamon. throw in microwave, spread on toast. enjoy!)  Could a morning get any better?
Beautiful hand-made wooden brushes from Greenbarn Gallery.  (Hair not included)
My adorable Zara clutch.  I cannot get enough of this thing!  Even men notice and love it!
Our Thanksgiving Crafts.  We made them into headpieces.  Turkey Lurkeys!
I know it's pure poison, but I love Crystal Light's Raspberry Ice.  I will drink this whole jug in a day.
A beautiful wooden cutting board made for us by my Opa.  And some delish pizza for little mouths.
My vices.  Since I have been running, I have been starving.  Here is me (again trolling fashion sites) and ingesting pure garbage (Crystal Light and Cheezies).  That should fuel me for the day, right?
Our Halloween shelf.  Pretty awesome, right?
I made this wreath.  How cute?
My new makeup table! Last weekend my mom-in-law found this amazing deal on desks from an antique store.  I got this one for $60! (White mirrors from Dollarama)
Some storage space underneath for extra makeup and jewelry I am not immediately wearing.  (Boxes on left from Dollarama, middle wood box made by my Opa, big wood box from Green Barn Gallery).
The details.  All my necessities right at hand.
A close-up of my jewelry.  I switch the earrings out for different ones (from aforementioned jewelry boxes) on the regular to "keep it fresh."  Giraffe bought in Murano by my Oma when we went there in my last year of highschool.
Everything kept tidy in milk glass and vases from Value Village.
The Eiffel Tower keeps my bracelets organized.
My inspiration board and also a place from which to hang my necklaces (metallic board from Ikea, round magnets from Staples).
My new framed photo of the Eiffel Tower taken by a friend of a friend who had this as their actual view.  Amazing.  It's like I'm waking up in Paris every morning.

Enjoy ma petites!

Little skirt, I love you.

I have an inkling that I could pull off a little a-line skirt if I paired it with some clunky heels and opaque black tights.  Here are some other sisters making the little skirt rock in their own special ways.
Zooey Deschannel (on set of New Girl) proving that us pear-shaped sisters can make the little skirt work.
Helena from Brooklyn Blonde making leather look cutesy and pleating look cute.

I love how Kirstin from Doll Parade styled this geek chic.  She therefore added bulk to upper half which would balance out my lower half...hmmmm...

Keiko Lynn always makes everythign the cutest ever.  I mean...
Julietta from Maffashion rocking this wispy black number.
Here's some colour!  Manrepeller making a flowered, pleated skirt so damn hot.  Man repelling?  Me think not!
And this one from Pumps and Kicks is just adorable and in one of my most favorite colours!

So can I wear one?  We shall see...

Tough Black Leather

So, I'm looking (or at least dreaming) for a tough black leather jacket.  I have a brown one that is nice but I think a black moto style one just says something completely different and can be so incredibly modern while still being totally classic.  Ya know?
I was browsing on Danier.com today and here are some beauties that I found:
I think this one gets points in the "toughness" catagory but the hood comes with and I think I might get sick of that.  The hood IS detachable though and at $199 this is kind of a steal.
This one is the shit.  It'd made for a woman's body, it has that toughass zipper at the top, the leather is top-quality.  Downside?  $599.  Ouch.
Another toughie.  Totally motorcycle like with the quilting and all the zippers.  Definitely a tough contender in this match.
This is the first one I picked out, probably because it's safe and this collars look good on me. But it's a little too "literary major" and not near enough balls-out badass.

I put this one in for fun. I love it.  But, it's not exactly timeless.
